Daly Cherry-Evans’ NRL future has reportedly been settled, with an agreement signed for the veteran halfback to join the Roosters in 2026.
According to rugby league reporter Phil Rothfield, Cherry-Evans put pen to paper on his new contract “ten weeks ago”.
However, his fresh deal won’t be announced anytime soon due to an agreement made between the Roosters and Sea Eagles.

“The DCE story is interesting, I touched on it in my column today, I’m told he’d signed with the Roosters about ten weeks ago,” Rothfield on the Big Sports Breakfast.
“But both clubs now have an agreement that once Manly are done, once the Roosters are done (in 2025), they will then make their announcement.”
Cherry-Evans’ cross-town switch has been the worst-kept secret in rugby league after he made a stunning announcement in March.
The 36-year-old revealed he would not be re-signing with the Sea Eagles, a club he currently has played 346 games for since making his NRL debut in 2011.
Cherry-Evans’ fresh contract reportedly includes one playing season, before he transitions into a coaching role in 2027.
The former Maroons No.7 will be 37 when his time on the field comes to an end with the Tricolours, with 26 Origins and 21 Tests for the Kangaroos under his belt.

“My understanding is it’s a one-year deal. He will announce that later in the year,” the SMH’s Michael Chammas said on 100% Footy.
“It’ll have a one-year continuing on as a coach.”
Cherry-Evans was axed as Queensland’s halfback for Game II of the 2025 Origin series, with Cowboys gun Tom Dearden taking over in the No.7 jersey.
It looks unlikely he will leapfrog Dearden and reclaim that spot after his replacement helped the Maroons to a series comeback with two wins in Game II and Game III.
Dearden also was named the Wally Lewis Medallist as the player of the series after a stellar performance in the Origin decider.
